The advocate will meet with the family to identify the struggles of the student and determine what services the family requires. This service is provided through virtual meetings, phone consults and emails. **This service is provided at no charge**
The advocate will complete a full review of all student documents provided and provide the family with detailed notes. These notes will include: compliance to IDEA regulations, completion of all required components, alignment to the families goals, accuracy of students performance levels, needs and progress.
Evaluation/Re-evaluation Reports: approximately 1 hour/15 pages
IEP: approximately 1 hour/20 pages
Progress Reports: approximately .25 hour (15 min)/goal
The advocate will meet with the family to assist them in understanding their students documents, answer questions, and provide recommendations. This can be done in person, via phone, or through email.
The advocate will draft a letter outlining all of the district errors and deficits in student programming, as well as outlining the families requested restorative measures.
The advocate will help the family prepare for their students upcoming meeting with the school based team so that they are able to effectively participate and reach their outlined objectives. This can be done in person or via phone.
The advocate will attend students meeting along with the family to provide the family direct support and expertise to negotiate the student’s goals, accommodations and other specific aspects of their proposed educational programming with the school based team. Compensation for travel may apply to this service dependent upon location.
Advocate will support parents in understanding and managing procedural documentation including: requests for evaluation, prior written notices, meeting notices, meeting requests, sharing parental concerns, etc.
When the family does not agree with the programming and/or placement recommended by the school based team, the advocate can complete an observation of the student in the home and/or in the educational environment to assist in determining the appropriateness of educational recommendations and
suggest learning environments that may best suit student’s needs.
When the family is in disagreement with their student's proposed programming or the family feels a violation of their student's rights has occurred, the advocate will assist the family in understanding and enacting their procedural safeguards. This includes helping them to request, prepare and attend mediation/resolution sessions and file state complaints if needed.
The advocate will review of progress monitoring documents in order to check that programming continues to be appropriate and student needs continue to be met with fidelity. This service is similar to the document review and family will be provided with notes as such.
All services listed above are charged at a rate of $70.00 per hour billed in quarter hour (15 minute) increments. Please be aware that all services do not have to be utilized as a “package”. After meeting with an advocate to identify goals and objectives, a service plan will be created to meet the specific needs of the student and family. A service contract will then be provided which outlines the specific services the family is contracting and must be signed prior to services being initiated.
